Chess for little movers

First Movers

A simple, fun way for toddlers to learn how chess pieces move, with big characters, cool powers, and zero pressure.

Built by a dad who refused to accept “they’re too young”

What is First Movers?

Kids don’t need to sit through boring lessons. They just move the pieces, unlock trophies, collect cool powers, and slowly absorb how each piece really moves.

♟️

Character-Driven

Every piece has a personality, voice, and story. Pawnaby is the dreamer. Knightington hops like no one else. Rook is the strong, serious one.

🏆

Trophies & Powers

Kids complete simple movement challenges to earn trophies, unlock auras, and eventually evolve their favorite pieces.

📖

Stories & Adventures

Comic-style stories turn learning into an adventure. The first one follows Pawnaby on his long journey across the board.

🛡️

Catch the Blockers

A fun mini-game where kids track the bad versions of the pieces and learn to follow movement patterns.

Meet the Friends

Each one has a different way of moving and a different personality.

♟️

Pawnaby

The little dreamer who never gives up

Knightington

One of a kind. The only one who hops

Bishop

Fast and smooth on the diagonals

Rook

Strong, steady, and serious

Queen

Magic moves. Almost unlimited freedom

King

The heart of the team. Quiet strength

Why this exists

I kept hearing the same thing: “He’s too young for chess.”

My son was three when I started trying to teach him. Most people thought I was crazy. I didn’t buy it. I just needed a way that actually matched how a toddler learns: short, visual, full of personality, and zero pressure.

First Movers is that way. It’s not a full chess engine. It’s the first step. The goal is simple: plant the seed early by making the pieces feel alive and the movements feel like play.

Kids can learn important skills much younger than most people think — if you present them the right way.
